Today is International Women’s Day! #IWD2019 is a day to reflect on where we are today, celebrate all the extraordinary women who have changed their communities or countries, and #empower each other to create change. 2019’s theme is #BalanceforBetter - what does this mean to you?
#LetsTalkEquithon - There’s more going on than just hacking and working with awesome people at #Equithon2019 - this year, we’ll also have activities going on throughout the weekend, such as LinkedIn Headshots, an interactive Post-It wall, a networking fair, and even therapy dogs!
#LetsTalkEquithon - Category 5: Economic Disparity. Across the world, there are noticeable differences in income distribution and the distribution of wealth; economic positions can relate to other whether or not one has a disability, one’s ethnic background, or even one’s gender.
#LetsTalkEquithon - Category 4: Physical Accessibility. #PhysicalBarriers and lack of consideration by others extends to the ways people with disabilities are treated when they seek employment, education, or services. Stay tuned for #Equithon2019’s last category!
#LetsTalkEquithon - Female Empowerment! Focusing on women discovering what they can be, do, and accomplish in circumstances that they previously were denied, or redefine gender roles to have #opportunities which has previously been seen as off-limits - this is #3 of #Equithon2019
#LetsTalkEquithon - Equithon 2019 Category 2: Mental Health. #MentalHealth is just as important as physical health, and mental illness can affect the way we think about ourselves, relate to others, and interact with the world around us. Learn more at: https://t.co/cEu3mcg17c.
Our first category we’re unveiling for #Equithon2019 is Freedom of Movement! This #humanrights concept focuses on the right to #travel within a country, return to a country after leaving it, or to change one’s place of work/residence. #LetsTalkEquithon - Category 2 coming soon!
