EUDR & CS3D: Threat or Opportunity for Young Coffee Farmers and Traders?
Millions of young coffee farmers wake up early to tend to their farms and emerging youth traders work tirelessly to connect local harvests with global markets. yet a quiet shift is happening across global trade routes that could fundamentally change their livelihoods-and most haven't even heard about it.
New international regulations like the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D) are setting strict new standards for traceability, environmental impact and human rights in supply chains. However, a vast majority of young farmers and grassroots entrepreneurs remain entirely unaware of what these laws
Join us for a critical conversation where we unpack the reality behind EUDR and CS3D:
What exactly is EUDR and CS3D , Information Gap: Are young farmers receiving enough information about these regulations?
Emerging Opportunities: Which new jobs and businesses are being created because of these policies?
Competitive Edge: Can compliance turn into a market advantage instead of a financial burden?

Beyond the Bean. Beyond the Farm. Beyond the Status Quo.
Africa grows some of the world’s finest coffee yet too many young people only see coffee as farming. What if coffee could also mean entrepreneurship, branding, technology, exports, roasting, cafés, tourism, content creation and global businesses built by young Africans?
Tonight we’re having that conversation.

Last night’s X Space that I co hosted with @UYCAlliance and @KIGOZIAUGUSTIN2 left me with a renewed sense of hope for Uganda’s coffee industry.
Seeing over 200 young people join the conversation live and already more than 320 people replay the recording reminded me that there is a growing generation that genuinely wants to learn, contribute and shape the future of our coffee sector. The interest is there. What we need now is consistency and action.
One lesson that stayed with me is that Uganda doesn’t have a coffee quality problem we have a branding, marketing and storytelling challenge. We produce exceptional coffee but we rarely tell the stories behind it.
We talk about grades, moisture content and export volumes. yet consumers buy emotion, identity and experiences just as much as they buy the product itself.
Another takeaway was that branding is far more than a logo or attractive packaging. It is the reputation you build over time. Marketing is how you connect that reputation to the right audience. Storytelling is what gives people a reason to remember your coffee, your business and ultimately your country.
As young people, we are in a unique position. We understand digital platforms, content creation and community building. If we can combine those strengths with the incredible coffee Uganda already produces, we won’t just be exporting beans we’ll be exporting the Ugandan story.
Thank you to everyone who joined, contributed, asked questions and listened. This is exactly why we’ll keep holding these Tuesday spaces. One conversation at a time, we’re building a generation that understands that the future of Uganda’s coffee industry will not only be grown on our farms but also through the stories we tell the world.
More of the spaces will keep coming so help us God
What else do you want us to talk about and which personality in the coffee world do you want us to host next Tuesday
For God and my country
COFFEE SCIENCE:
Cabbages can be intercropped in young coffee gardens. Plant cabbages in open sunlit spaces between coffee trees. Keep the beds weed-free as a pest control measure. Cabbages provide early income, help cover the topsoil, and maximize land use.
It’s Tuesday and you already know what that means youth Coffee X Space.
Every Tuesday we come together to have real conversations about the coffee sector and practical ideas that can help young people find opportunities in coffee.
Tonight at 8:30 PM (EAT) we’re talking about Branding, Storytelling and Marketing in Coffee: Opportunities & Challenges in the Coffee Sector.
We produce some of the best coffee in the world but are we telling our story well enough? Are we building brands people remember or are we leaving that to everyone else? Let’s unpack it together.
If you’re a young farmer, entrepreneur, student, coffee lover or just curious about where the sector is headed pull up a seat. Your voice matters.

Coffee is no longer sold on quality alone. Certifications like Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade and Organic are increasingly shaping how coffee is marketed, branded and valued in international markets. But what do these certifications really mean for farmers, exporters and young entrepreneurs?
Join us tonight at 9:00 PM on our X Space as we host @ezra_kanjungu who will unpack the role of coffee certifications in branding, market access and business growth.
Bring your questions and let’s learn together.
