@Mudskip_ For me at least it’s all about aligning expectations with small, achievable goals. Getting to x spot on PR is a goal much less in your control than “I want to be able to take Lui$ to last stock” consistently
@eastbayhero Good thread, am I correct in thinking the takeaway from this is that while we should iterate and improve our ranking algorithms; we really should shift the culture away from thinking it’s a direct reflection of reality or skill?
Okay so that Miles Davis quote "if you hit a wrong note, it's the next note you play that determines if it's good or bad" applies to basically everything
“One day, when it’s safe, when there’s no personal downside to calling a thing what it is, when it’s too late to hold anyone accountable, everyone will have always been against this.” -- Omar El Akkad
@latiyosh Regular meditation, even a few minutes a day has been working wonders for me. Learning to be comfortable in your own thoughts teaches you to find meaning in dull moments.
@imbrownonline Conservatism is objectively the wrong direction for society in basically every way. Anti-reality at best and is predicated on discriminating against marginalized groups. Always such a pathetic defense to hide behind being wrong with "it's just my opinion bro"
@fishfishtime This is a massive reason why Japan eclipsed other major regions. Comprehensive public transport -> increased accessibility to majors and regionals
@LammersSSBU@Spair_pnw The things Trump and the right stand for is incredibly damaging to minorities and the country, there is a decade of evidence for this. Voting or supporting him when he is the objective worse evil does reflect on you
@LammersSSBU@Spair_pnw I mean this with as no personal hate but the idea that political opinions are frivolous is incredibly harmful. Objectively speaking. I can explain right now. Political opinions are a reflection of morality, there are studies on this.
