This marks his fifth such milestone overall, achieved by receiving consistent love throughout the year despite being a winter season song. The song made history by becoming the first Korean drama OST to enter the U.S. Billboard "Hot 100" chart.

Released on December 24, 2021, "Christmas Tree" broke records and rewrote the history of K-pop. It achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the first Korean drama OST to enter the U.S. Billboard Main Song Chart, the "Hot 100," at number 79. It also topped the Billboard "Holiday Digital Song Sales" and "Digital Song Sales" charts, and reached number 55 on the "Holiday Hot 100."

Favorable reviews from prominent international media outlets also followed. U.S. media outlet Elite Daily included "Christmas Tree" in its "Playlist of 24 Christmas Season Songs Released Since the 2000s," while British media outlet Edinburgh Live named it the "most popular Christmas song on Spotify." Billboard staff also selected this song for their "Top 25 Christmas Songs of the 21st Century," praising its emotional lyrics and V's unrivaled vocal tone.
