If you FUD Coinbase & Base because of Virtuals - you are mising the bigger picture. Here is why.

A fantastic business & crypto case study based (pun intended) on @coinbase x @virtuals_io fud example, and how are @solana and @base so different?

If you read the comments, many crypto bros chant that:
- They've missed all the biggest @base runners
- CB listing team is out-of-trenches noobs
- They should do what SOL does and list more projects
- The biggest grudge people hold is about NOT listing @virtuals_io that drove an insane amount of volume to Base, and Virtuals now launching on SOL.

How justified these suggestions/claims are?

Solana is clearly leading the volume charge since 2024 with the amount of memecoins action happening there. SOL communities, Foundation members, and exchanges have backed projects with aggressive support, even listing high-performing or insider-driven tokens like $PNUT.

Their strategy is clear: adapt fast, try new things faster, throw away what doesn't work at speed of light, solve the problem IF they arise. And it works. Solana became one of the most active chains thanks to memecoins. What did the SOL Foundation do? Threw 10x efforts and people to invest, incubate, and support projects that build in memecoins space. Double-down on the narrative. Focused on volume and gains.

Many expected Base to follow a similar pattern, especially with the rise of the AI agent meta, which found early success on Base, and we will see a similar pattern of listings, especially as Base has an ace up their sleeve - @coinbase exchange, that could potentially drive insane volume and provide huge support to the selected listed projects. But that didn't happen. Why?

I think people are missing the bigger picture here. While many exchanges, including Binance, Gate, Bybit, etc., operate in a fuller form of "decentralization" that allows them to not worry so much about WHAT they list, as long as it has hype, and the project doxxes to the CEX team on top of a good deal/OTC/token allo.

Can @base and @coinbase do the same? Probably. But I don't think they should. First of all, let's state the obvious. CB is a US company and @brian_armstrong in American. If you have ever been involved in the investment sector and had to deal with US investors or entities - you know just how much of pain it is. The amount of legal work is 5x compared to other countries. And not only it is more work, it's also extremely easy to go in jail for not doing it right with the proper legal council. Which is VERY expensive. I am convinced, that CB being THE American CEX, and Brian being the key crypto figure in the country under new Trump's pro-crypto presidency puts a lot of restrictions and adds a huge layer of considerations for the company and leadership.

But it also creates an opportunity size of which has not been seen in crypto before. If @brian_armstrong with @jessepollak plays his cards right, yes, maybe lose on some traction and immediate gains, but do not make any mistakes, and places the company right - @coinbase can become THE CEX for all the financial institutions, COUNTRIES, and major corporations. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to establish Coinbase as the backbone of the global crypto economy.

Now ask yourself. If you are a Founder of a company with such a prospect in a country with a pro-crypto president @realDonaldTrump - would you really risk the long-term dominance and 10000x growth just to satisfy the memecoin and dopamine hungry crowd to make a quick buck?

P.S. I myself got more bullish on @coinbase and @base while writing this tweet. Long-term vision > short-term gains.
