EPIC published the proceedings from last fall, so here is my paper if you want to read it! It covers a lot about authenticity in gaming events and it does get a bit spicy about the nature of capitalism. https://t.co/nzaPyfQ032
BREAKING NEWS: #CC2 has updated fans on how to help to revitalize the #DotHack series and possibly save #DotHackIMOQ from never becoming a remaster! Please do all you can to make people aware of the beauty of #TheWorld

Put it into numbers, CyberConnect2 is like only one voice, so of course no matter how passionate we are if it’s only one voice it won’t have much impact, it won’t be heard. That’s why everyone’s voice would be needed to make it happen, to raise interest.
#dothack (make it trend)
This new piece from @nitashatiku is so, so, so good. It explains wtf is going on with Silicon Valley and AI risk. Between the lines, it connects a lot of dots for me I hadn't worked out yet. Insanely well-written and well-researched. https://t.co/ta1L97HGlA

Here's a 25,000 word literature review of research on the impact of algorithmic on music consumption and production, commissioned by the UK government’s Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation, written by myself and three Leeds Uni colleagues https://t.co/vpjUYCUYAi
I've been doing ethnographic work around gaming communities and events professionally for like 8 years now. Think it may be time to step back and publish something? Might try for a conference paper this year?
"Here I collect a selected set of critical lenses on so-called ‘AI’, including the recently hyped #ChatGPT. I hope these resources are useful for others as well, and help make insightful why we need to remain vigilant and resist the AI hype." https://t.co/ccOdai26nX
Saturation as a marker of #qualitative quality is overrated. However, if that's your goal, this systematic review is your friend.
It concludes that, given the right analytic practices, 9-17 interviews or 4-8 focus groups can lead to saturation. https://t.co/eIqmoqIrKg
Well, that's a wrap! Big thanks to the Department of Anthropology @MIT for inviting me out to speak about Black gamers! And thanks to @ybika for taking this candid photo of me!
Very excited that my first paper from the @Algosoc_ERC project has been published open access with @BigDataSoc ! It explores the computational and political implications of training machine learning algorithms on so-called 'synthetic data'. https://t.co/xIE6Oh6Xdp
Mentioned old ethnographic technique to PhD student. Have a poor stomach requiring you to go frequently to the toilet so you can record notes before you forget them. She reported back that this has been extremely useful advice.
@RealKevinCole Guess I know what I'm investigating today, on first glance it seems like the sense of wonder of collective asynchronous fiction not unlike SCP or blaseball that functions almost like an epic saga or mythos where despite people continually adding, a cohesive narrative shakes out.
