15 Years, that is one of the proposed lifespan of a car on SA roads as South Africa is developing an end-of-life vehicle strategy which will determine when a vehicle will be “retired” and no longer be able to be driven on the country’s roads.

The Automobile Association (AA) proposes starting vehicle retirements at 15 years and older, pointing out that older vehicles account for the highest number of unroadworthy cars.

The automotive business council (Naamsa) argues that retirement should depend on periodic "health assessments" (roadworthy tests) rather than a strict chronological age.

15 years then scrap off the road or keep the car on the road as long there is a proof of service, or none of the options?
