Millions of trees cut down annually for the supply of single use coffee cups, of which the vast majority cannot be recycled, so head straight to landfill.

@godelnik@CostaCoffee Hiya Raz, our "grand plan" on the product roadmap, is to have many drop off points available, be it participating stores or smart hoppers. Hopefully the convenience of acquiring a cup at location 'a' then being able to drop at ....x,y,z overcomes the obstacle you've highlighted.
Today @CostaCoffee and @AustellaVR are taking the fight to single-use plastics with a new scheme that uses blockchain tracked metal coffee cups to encourage adoption of reusable containers! It uses a BLOCKv powered NFT to pair cups with customer accounts☕️

The #WOTW is National Coffee Day. At least 63% of Americans drink about 2-3 cups of coffee every day and 2.25 billion cups of coffee are consumed, globally, every day. Using reusable cups, instead of single use cups, when drinking coffee can be a great way to be more sustainable!
Great to finally see this project out of the blocks. Congratulations to @CostaCoffee & @AustellaVR for getting the project live. It will be interesting to see how consumers engage with the concept #choosetoreuse https://t.co/4g45rcwCUD
Plastic pollution is a transboundary challenge that requires global action. It is estimated
that more than 8.3 billion tons of plastic has been produced since the early 1950s. About
60% of that plastic has ended up in either a landfill or the natural environment.
1 million plastic bottles are sold around the world per minute, adding to the plastic pollution that ends up in our landfills and oceans.
We can all make a difference if we simply bring our own refillable bottle.
