BREAKING: WOW! Democrats just broke the Republican Party’s supermajority in the deep-red state of Mississippi, flipping two state Senate seats in a huge win!

For the first time in 13 years, Mississippi Democrats will be able to exert some political power in the state Senate with a slew of major special election wins.

“Mississippi just broke the supermajority—and the people have taken back their power,” the Mississippi Democratic Party wrote online late on Election night. “From the Delta to the Pine Belt, voters stood up for fair leadership and community progress: Better schools. Fairer representation. Expanded healthcare. Good-paying jobs.”

The Mississippi Free Press reports that “in the Mississippi Pine Belt region, Democrat Johnny DuPree won Senate District 45, previously held by Republican Sen. Chris Johnson of Hattiesburg. In North Mississippi, Democrat Theresa Gillespie Isom won the Senate District 2 seat held by Republican Sen. David Parker of Olive Branch, who decided not to run for reelection. In the House, Democrat Justin Crosby also flipped House District 22, defeating incumbent Republican House Rep. Jon Lancaster.”

This is a wonderful cherry on top of a delicious victory cake. Democrats swept all the major elections last night by huge margins, exposing the rot that undergirds the Republican grasp on power in America and injecting the Democratic Party with a desperately needed shot of hope and confidence.

Winning in deep red states should be a reminder we need to compete EVERYWHERE. If we start organizing and mobilizing NOW, we can transform the face of this country in 2026 and start delivering some relief to the people who have suffered so long under the yoke of GOP mismanagement and neglect.
