A PSA to all the unilinguals who don’t have a first-hand experience of this:
It’s not because you speak a second language really well, even passing for a native speaker, that you’re as comfortable in it than you are in your mother tongue.
@NatBelliveau @DrSChouinard So true! I know my phone number in French, and my husband's in English (from hearing him recite it), I often leave his number when I'm asked in Eng. so I don't struggle and feel dumb.
Still lots of wind in Albert Bridge, Cape Breton this morning. We can't wait for it to stop so there is no more damage to the house. Such a stressful night.
@alyse_wilton @beccaleat We've been using Maple too, and they took care of my daughter's issue really well, with follow-up from a nurse practitioner and all the referrals for the tests she needed.
@MacKayJennifer@TimHoustonNS @StrangRobert @nshealth Rapid tests for asymptomatic cases aren't the best (accuracy is below 60%). I understand that you want to have the choice not to isolate, but it did not allow others to make that choice when it wasn't mandated, even when we felt like it wasn't safe for others.
@MacKayJennifer@TimHoustonNS @StrangRobert @nshealth I ended up being the lucky 1/4 who didn't test positive. Also only had access to not that accurate rapid tests. There is now an outbreak in my class, I might have been the source.
@MacKayJennifer@TimHoustonNS @StrangRobert @nshealth I'm glad some were able to take responsibility, most were told to come to work if they did not test positive/had symptoms. I felt like I was putting my whole class in danger while teaching double-masked with windows open, seeing my family members getting infected one at a time.

There are huge fires in BC, growing numbers of children in unmarked graves in govt and church-run residential schools and a humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. Today’s election issue- vaccines for fed workers? Out of touch politics.
@lisaakates@mirgray@JulieSLalonde The boot dryer that we bought for my children's boots and mittens also makes me feel this way. Knowing that I can get dry and warm boots in an hour or so relived the stress of winter walking and commuting.
