@VivaLaMoochickn@JboyPIU@ranatalus oh, totally. we had some jank picks for SEPTA that got positive protect/veto ratios (Unreal being notable). balancing player enjoyment with jank inclusion is tough though, there's a certain line between a song being a good pick to study and being totally unfun at all
@ranatalus@leoncbrunson it was also super fun to compile the protect/veto data and see what level of jank people were willing to play. the data is up on our songlist if you wanna see what PA was willing to put up with.
@ranatalus@leoncbrunson imo partial songlists need to be curated well in order to avoid people just picking the most straightforward stuff. for SEPTA we ran ITG-style tiers for DDR songs and released the songlist 2 months in advance so people could prepare some of the niche picks we had
@ranatalus@leoncbrunson it's a difficult task to incentivize people to practice the songs but also not be completely unapproachable, especially if you're running the format at a local where the player strength can really vary
@ddrsensation if I had a nickel for every time I unknowingly recharted Crapyard Scent and got it into an ITG tech tournament I'd have two nickels. which isn't a lot of nickels but it's weird that it happened twice
@CHRS4LFE this happened to me as well once. some kids on a field trip won a prize to play a song on the intercom. I legit couldn't hear the arcade cab over it
