jaehyun got contacted by his family today, and they asked him, “why would you write a song for fans who left? take better care of the fans who are here!” 🥲 but then jaehyun said VIRAL isn’t that kind of song!
🐶 that’s not what the song is about. first of all, this song started from our own ambition. we wanted to express this burning desire we have to succeed. all of the members shared the thought that we wanted to show people just how desperate and determined we are to do well. so we started thinking about how we could express that, and eventually we came to the conclusion, ‘we want our song to become well-known.’ and we agreed to do that.
🐶 but then taesan brought up an idea. he said, “let’s make it a love song that only singers can make.” when you think of boynextdoor, don’t you think of love songs? and i thought, ‘wow, that’s a really good idea too. so we looked for the intersection between those two ideas. on one side, there was our wish for the song to spread everywhere and reach people’s ears, and on the other side, there was the idea of making a love song that only singers could create. when those two things came together, a good song called VIRAL was made.
not to make everything deeper than it actually is but seeing the manifestations of bin’s devotion to neul through the way he is so wholeheartedly devoted to speaking his first language is. well it makes me feel really crazy. to loved is to be known or whatever
sung hanbin calling out the number in both korean and chinese, showing the paper to fans, noticing the fan manipulating gunwook, and discreetly letting security know to remove the paper she gave him. is sung hanbin an entire crisis management team in one person 😭
