@mdleonardo14@yinzer_g I’ve had my ankle rolled up on plenty of times, all it takes is stopping while the momentum of the other guy is continuing in that direction. People who played know that was a soft ass call and we don’t want a game where contesting 50/50s is penalized with a red.
@mdleonardo14@yinzer_g He was lunging for the ball played into him by Robinson, if you actually watched the play. It wasn’t a tackle. Red cards for 50/50 plays have never been part of the game. Cleats to ankles & rolled ankles happen every game. Looking bad in a photo should not be basis for a red.
@mdleonardo14@yinzer_g Anyone who has played soccer knows that red cards have always been reserved for malicious tackles / goal preventing fouls, not accidental contact on 50/50s. VAR still frame photos made this look malicious when it was actually a 50/50 ball played to Balogun.
@Jack_Brentnall@JJPackfan So you don’t think it’s extreme to give someone a 1 game ban in a tournament that happens once every four years for an accident? Anyone who has played soccer knows that red cards are intended for malicious tackles or goal preventing fouls.
@mr_ugo0@FauxDrJoe@Dataracer117 Every 50/50 ball could potentially end your career. Are we just going to start handing out reds for all the ones where you land awkwardly?
@mr_ugo0@FauxDrJoe@Dataracer117 It wasn’t a tackle. He was coming down from playing the ball and landed on his foot which unfortunately turned his ankles. It’s a physical sport and injuries sometimes happen. Red cards aren’t going to prevent accidents.
@KentraHagatra I didn’t know accidental contact on 50/50 balls was now a red card. For consistency, we should stop the game whenever there is contact on a 50/50 and look at still frame photos at point of contact only since intent doesn’t matter.
@NWD02696407@ethanagarwal I grew up playing soccer and accidental contact on 50/50 balls was never a red, regardless of if someone was injured. VAR should only be used for goals and penalties in the box - using VAR to re referee fouls based on slow motion / still frames is a slippery slope.
@TheAutumnWind33@DavisMattek You obviously never played soccer though because that type of play happens all of the time. It’s a slippery slope if you start red carding every guy who accidentally steps on another guy going for a 50/50.
@jakeyzaiger@Nicocantor1 You don’t know ball. Playing a 50/50 ball and accidentally landing on someone is not recklessly endangering them. It happens in literally every game and VAR has now made it a red card whenever it’s reviewed.
@uk_pat37@SpencerBrecht@adamhousley I don’t know what you’re talking about. If Balogun’s accidental contact is a red card then you could give a red card in every single soccer game. Accidental cleats to ankles happens every single game. Red cards are not for accidental contact on 50/50 balls
@wahutes@soxfan0707 You can make up for that with good rotations and rim protection. TB can get downhill, facilitate and make big plays. All of which would be easier with 4 guys better than him on his team.
@wahutes@soxfan0707 I’m acting as if world champion/HoF level coaches know more than you. Have you considered the fact Utah was ass and that might impact efficiency? It’s slightly different playing alongside 4 guys of UNC/KU caliber as long as you can handle the spotlight.
@wahutes@soxfan0707 lol I’d imagine Malone/Self are pretty good at evaluating players. But you should call them up and let them know about the usage rates / defense bc they probably aren’t watching any tape.
@ironmikeluke@toddmoran05 Current potential UNC roster, Terrence Brown, Juke Harris, Neoklis Avdalas/Jarin Stevenson, Miika Muurinan, Henri Veesaar. If that plays out then I’ll be pretty happy. Dixon is a stud tho.
Source tells @On3 that Michael Malone was a top name in the New Orleans Pelicans coaching search, but he ultimately decided to take the North Carolina job.
