Some highlights from The Cat Show Live 2025, Birmingham NEC (including which ones I stroked!) 🧵
Breed Showcase: Persian (stroked) - look at that face!

⬅️ Can anyone see my octopus? I can see him on my phone but he's mysteriously disappeared on my laptop. (Firefox is being very glitchy at the moment.) Please let me know if you can see him or not and on what device/browser. Thanks!
@Keir_Starmer Oh look, yet another isolated incident. Thoughts and prayers, thoughts and prayers, thoughts and prayers. There are no patterns to spot and there is no tough action to be taken. Don't anyone dare be outraged by this. You're pathetic. 🤬
@Malcolm_theCat What a treat! You're really vibing out to your talented human sister. MalcFest sounds like a fun alternative to all the football coming up. My glasses have reacting lenses that turn dark when I go outside. 🤓😎 Not that they're as cool as your pink ones, of course.
Friends! The Little One has taken to bringing her guitar out into the garden to provide me with Live Music Concerts. It’s great - I feel like I’m at a festival. MalcFest! Would you please join me at MalcFest today? Make sure you put your sunglasses on (it’s a MUST at a festival, even if the sun isn’t shining!) 🎶
@Malcolm_theCat In Percy's defence, he does have such massive paws he could knock anything over with barely a touch. Good to see Pooh back to normal and being admired from a safe distance!
Friends! I have news! Mum has successfully mended Winnie-the-Pooh. His ears are back in place (stuck with superglue). I also know that Percy was the culprit who knocked Pooh off the shelf. I know because he’s been behaving in a Very Guilty Manner. But we’ve forgiven him of course!
🔊 Rottweilers are supposed to have a big bark, and we're well known for our "Rottie Rumble" that we use in play or instead of an overdramatic sigh.
But not Baby Rottie Kenji. He has decided to sound like a goose! Or maybe he swallowed one and it's trying to get out. Is he turning into a MooseGooseweiler? This is going to be sooo embarrassing when we go out and instead of barking he honks!
Honk if you love dogs? 🪿❤️🐾

Just about to do my 9th Couch to 5K run, then a Western Reef Heron mega’d at Foryd Bay in North Wales. 1st of Britain.
John Lees and Liz wanted to come and that gave me plenty of time for run, shower & some Weetabix.
Sat Nav had ETA 6:45pm, but we didn’t find site to 7:40pm.
Friends! It’s incredible how ADORED Mr Spider is in our house. He is years old, has been chewed up, and all his legs have been bitten off, and yet he’s still the most popular toy. Put your sound on full and watch Percy here. That’s love for you! Well done, Mr Spider! ❤️
You've seen the meme: one opossum eats 5,000 ticks a season. Unfortunately, it's wrong.
When researchers dissected the stomachs of 32 wild opossums, they found zero ticks. The number came from a single lab study that got stretched into folklore, and it still gets repeated everywhere.
But the opossum doesn't need the lie. It's the only marsupial in North America. It cleans up carrion, rotting fruit, slugs, snails, and the rodents you'd rather not have around. It eats copperheads and rattlesnakes, because it's immune to their venom. And it almost never carries rabies, since its body runs too cool for the virus to take hold.
So when one waddles through the yard at night, you're not looking at a pest, you're looking at the cleanup crew that works for free.
Today’s feel good story thanks to the wonderful and caring @NiallHarbison. 🙏
Mr Buster ‘lived’ on a chain on the cold concrete for years. He was completely neglected because he was “vicious and dangerous” according to his owners.
But he was far from that….
Just look at this big gentle baby boy now! ❤️
Thank you Niall and everyone at @WeAreHappyDoggo 🙏.
Nothing beats the sound of dogs happily eating.
It's important for the young and small dogs to learn to share food from an early age. Eating from a tray in a controlled way and Melisa can pick up on any food sharing issues, who doesn't want to jump into the pack etc
All dogs are fed don't worry, we are just sharing one of so many important socialising skills that all our dogs take part in, whether they have a life at the Sanctuary or in a home.
Thank you all for your support which means that when we rescue, it does not mean life in a cage.
Have a wonderful evening all.
