Notre-Dame des Neiges, located in Alpe d’Huez, France, is a remarkable example of postwar sacred architecture, designed by Jean Marol and completed in 1970. Built to replace a modest wooden chapel ahead of the 1968 Winter Olympics, the church rises like a tented shelter, a symbolic reference to Abraham’s tent, with its fluid, copper-clad roof conceived by Charles Verguet. Its oval plan and circular concrete frame evoke modernist ideals, while the laminated timber structure and translucent dome introduce both material clarity and spiritual luminosity. Upon entering through a long narthex, visitors gradually transition from shadow to light, arriving at a central skylight supported by a mast that symbolically anchors the space. This mast aligns with two other local bell towers, reinforcing the site’s connection to both tradition and landscape.
From render to reality. The aptly named "CityWave" project is steadily taking shape in Milan. Designed by @BIG_Architects, the development features two office buildings connected by a 140-metre long curved roof clad in photovoltaic tiles.
The covered space created between the two structures is set to become a new public square.
The project is due to complete in 2026.

Miami could be about to get another supertall skyscraper. Designed by Arquitectonica, the 81-storey mixed-use tower at 1414 Brickell would rise 308-metres above the city, offering a hotel, residential, office and retail space across its levels.
A zoning review application was submitted to Miami-Dade County by the project's developers earlier this year. Its approval would pave the way for the skyscraper's construction.

Is this how we save London’s Hammersmith Bridge? The 138 year-old Grade II listed structure over the Thames has been closed since April 2019 after cracks appeared in its pedestals, with only pedestrians or dismounting cyclists allowed to cross it.
The bridge was today reopened to cyclists after a £2.9M project to upgrade its main deck. But with the cost to reopen it to road traffic ballooning to more than £250M, its future as a vehicle bridge remains in doubt.
Now, architects Sybarite have teamed up with engineers at Buro Happold to propose a bypass consisting of two “ribbons” around the main structure. The new road routes would be constructed in mirror-polish stainless steel to help them blend into their surroundings and avoid taking any focus away from the original bridge itself. The heritage structure would then be turned into a public park and footbridge, similar to New York’s High Line.
In a statement on its website, Sybarite said: “How much longer will politics and bureaucracy hold London hostage while Hammersmith Bridge remains a crumbling symbol of inaction? [The bridge] has become a symbol of stagnation due to political and financial delays, leaving residents and visitors disrupted. We propose a design that reimagines the historic structure while respecting its past.”

This massive new sports centre is nearing completion in Guangzhou’s Nansha District. Designed by @ZHA_News, construction works at the Greater Bay Area Sports Centre are due to wrap-up in June 2025 ahead of China National Games in November.
The 70-hectare site features a 60,000-seat stadium, a 20,000-seat arena for basketball and other indoor events, and a 4,000-seat aquatics centre. It's been designed to host a wide range of major national and international sporting events, as well as cultural performances, that can be easily accessed by all residents of the Greater Bay Area via Line 18 of the Guangzhou Metro and the new Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge.

Root Bench, designed by Yong Ju Lee and completed in 2018, is a 700 m² public installation located in Yongsan-gu, South Korea. Initially conceived as a winning proposal for the Hangang Art Competition, the project takes the form of a 30-meter-wide circular bench that mimics the branching pattern of tree roots spreading across the landscape. Installed within a grassy park, the structure blurs the line between artificial intervention and natural environment. Its organic form—generated through a reaction-diffusion algorithm—creates a strong visual impact and a sense of spatial fluidity, establishing a unique connection between the built form and its surroundings.
