Cape Town Man Offers R20,000 Reward After Claiming Woman He Met at Hatfield's Barcode Drugged Him, Stole His Devices Including iPhone 16 Pro Max and Spent R88,000 From His Capitec Account
A man identified as Obrian Malekutu Makwela has alleged that he was drugged and robbed after a woman he identified as Lesedi Precious visited his Cape Town apartment on Wednesday. According to his account, the two had previously met at Barcode in Hatfield in 2024 and had not been in contact until she recently reached out while visiting Cape Town.
He claimed that the woman contacted him and offered to bring a flu remedy after he told her he was unwell. The pair reportedly purchased ingredients, and she prepared the remedy in his kitchen before giving it to him to drink. He alleges that he blacked out shortly afterwards and only regained consciousness at around 5am on Thursday.
According to his statement, he was unable to stand or walk when he woke up and rolled down the stairs from the fourth floor of his building to reach security personnel. He said security called an ambulance for assistance and informed him that the woman had left the premises wearing a different outfit. He further claimed that the last location recorded on his phone was near a college close to their residence.
The man alleges that an iPhone 16 Pro Max, a Huawei laptop and a Huawei MatePad were stolen. He also claimed that R74,000 was spent from his Capitec Business account at Louis Vuitton, followed by another transaction of R14,000 five minutes later. He has appealed to the public for information and offered a reward of R20,000 to anyone who can assist.
