Around 3pm, a whole street was robbed by seven armed men, and he was the only one on duty.

They began exchanging gunfire with him (Mr. Anthony). Long story short, he took down six of those heavily armed men. One of them escaped and went to call for reinforcements, which consisted of 15 new squad members.

Throughout all this, Mr. Anthony didn't back down; he stood his ground, honored the oath he pledged to Nigerian civilians, and protected everyone in the area.

He also bravely took down the reinforced 15 armed men. They shot an RPG at the complex, which had civilians and a baby inside, but he rescued everyone. Despite heavy fire, he didn’t back down.

Akinjide stepping down is not a small thing. That is years of work, money, time and people’s trust on the line. So when you say Akin Alabi must reciprocate with inclusion and that inclusion needs to be defined clearly before the general election, not after.

It takes a different kind of discipline to step aside, especially after building structures, mobilizing supporters, and sustaining a strong grassroots presence across the constituency.

What Akinjide has done deserves commendation. He had every political justification to push his aspiration to the very end. Yet, in the interest of party unity and continuity, he chose the path of restraint and loyalty to the party.

It is also important to acknowledge the performance and growing influence of Hon. Akin Alabi. In a political climate where arguments around rotation and local balancing could easily have been used against him as someone from Egbeda, his performance in office and ranking status in the House became major factors in why many stakeholders considered continuity important for the constituency.

Now, the ball naturally shifts to Hon. Akin Alabi. Political magnanimity must be reciprocated with political inclusion. The goodwill, structure, and support base of Captain should not be discarded after the primaries. It should be respected, embraced, and integrated.
