I didn't agree with Colin's take on the smoke, having been someone who's life has been severely impacted by environmental illness over many years, but if there is one thing I've learned more deeply from the Covid pandemic it's that adults have bodily autonomy and the liberty to have their own conclusions.

What Abigail did was fall prey to the stupidity of the internet -- she dumped a personal feeling of disagreeing with someone into snarkily wishing violence on someone out into the public, and what's more she did it in her professional role. That extreme lack of judgement about her civic role is addressable by her employers who need to safeguard public standards. I agree, she should resign or be fired.

We can do better.

We can get this done, but we have to be willing to work for it—and we have to make filibustering senators “earn” their right to filibuster by showing up and speaking on the Senate floor.
