Who do you actually trust for transfer news?
Not vibes. Not follower counts. Records.
VARdict puts every claim ON REVIEW and grades journalists on what STANDS vs what gets OVERTURNED.
Romano passed the VAR check. Who doesn’t?

600 registered users.
Thank you. All of you.
The record started on 1st June. The first person signed up on 3rd July.
Since then you have grown into 600, and 361 of you arrived in the last 7 days alone, through the busiest week of the window.
What we are building is one word: clarity.
Not opinions about who is a good journalist. Not a feeling about who tends to be right. A record you can check: who said it, what time they said it, and what happened next.
When a claim stands, we say so. When it is overturned, we say that too. When a post comes down, it stays on the record with the time it went up and the time it came down.
13,833 transfer claims are on that record now. Every one of them timestamped, every one of them checkable by you.
This is the beginning of it. There is a great deal more coming.
We don’t have opinions. We have timestamps.

Bradley Barcola to Liverpool: who was first to each stage
£106m guaranteed, £17m in add-ons, five years, the No 29 shirt. Confirmed by Liverpool at 14:00 today. Here is who got there first at each stage.
The link: we are not awarding it. @FabrizioRomano and @Plettigoal both say they had Liverpool's interest in early May. Our record starts on 1 June. We cannot see it, so we will not claim it.
Personal terms: @KrrishFT, 1 Jun, 18:26. Liverpool in direct contact with the agent, wages and terms not an issue.
Formal talks: @JamesWathland, 15 Jul, 16:07. Liverpool would approach PSG the following week.
Player agreed in principle: @DaveOCKOP, 28 Jul, 16:26, relaying L'Équipe. That break was L'Équipe's, off X, and we time X posts only.
The fee: @alex_crook for @talkSPORT, 29 Aug, 06:00. £106m plus £17m add-ons, exactly as announced. @David_Ornstein posted the same figures at 07:50, 110 minutes later.
The structure, earlier: @_pauljoyce, 27 Aug, 08:39. Guaranteed fee just above £100m, about £20m in add-ons. Not the exact numbers, but the right shape 2 days before anyone else split it.
Medical booked: @FabrizioRomano, 29 Aug, 10:01.
For the record: @NicoSchira had €125m on 14 Aug, exactly the guaranteed fee, 15 days before anyone. They then posted €165m at 09:42 on 27 Aug and €150m at 10:01. The confirmed package is €145m.

@Mobyhaque1 is now tracked on VARdict.
Added today because several of you would like it.
Their record starts 2 September 2026. We have not backfilled, so nothing posted before today appears on it, and they cannot win a race that opened before now.
From here they are graded exactly like everyone else: every transfer claim ruled once the outcome is known, every deletion logged with the time it went up and the time it came down.
We have no view on whether they are any good. That is the whole point. Come back at the end of a window and the record will say.
We don’t have opinions. We have timestamps.

CREDIT CHECKED: @SHoomwitter on Enzo Fernández
@indykaila credited @SHoomwitter with being ahead of the curve on Manchester City’s pursuit of Enzo Fernández. We checked every stage of it.
@SHoomwitter’s earliest, by his own admission, was a post on City is 7 Aug,
15:36: City’s interest “cannot be ruled out”, dependent on the Rodri and Reijnders fees, Chelsea “relaxed for now”.
@KrrishFT had City making “fresh enquiries in the last 24 hours as the main replacement for Rodri” at 13:42 that same day. 1h 54m earlier.
For the six weeks before that, @SHoomwitter’s Enzo line was Real
Madrid: 16 Jun, and again on 29 Jun with Tchouaméni going the other way as part of the deal.
11 Aug, 13:39: their post says the story is “being confirmed by Sam Lee”.
11 Aug, 20:11: “now confirmed by Fabrizio”. The Fabrizio post quoted inside it went up at 19:11, one hour earlier.
Today, on the £125m agreement: @FabrizioRomano at 16:46, @David_Ornstein 16:47, @Plettigoal 16:48, @JacobsBen 16:49, then @SHoomwitter at 16:50, whose own post reads “as now exclusively reported by”.
This was not an exclusive.
He signed for Manchester City for £125m, in cash. Ahead of the curve is not what our record shows at any stage of it.

CREDIT CHECKED: @SHoomwitter@indykaila credited @SHoomwitter on three stories. We checked all three. Two stand.
Arsenal and Julián Álvarez: STANDS.
23 Jan 2026, 14:47, naming Andrea Berta working through intermediaries. That is 139 days before the earliest Arsenal and Álvarez claim anywhere on our record. It predates our record entirely, so we are taking it on the receipt rather than our own data, and anyone can check it.
Amit Bhatia and the Barcola deal: STANDS.
27 Aug, 03:13. The only post on our record connecting the new investor group to getting the Barcola deal finalised, and nothing else touches it for 5 days.
Manchester City and Enzo Fernández: OVERTURNED
Their post is at 20:11 on 11 Aug and its own words are “now confirmed by Fabrizio”. The Fabrizio post quoted inside it went up at 19:11 that evening, one hour earlier. Their first Enzo post that day, at 13:39, credits Sam Lee.
One note on the Barcola post: it carries an em dash mid sentence and the phrase “a defensively minded midfielder”. An AI generated tell.
Readers can draw their own conclusion about how it was written. It does not move the timestamp, and the timestamp is what we grade.
Our record starts on 1 Jun 2026, and on this account 10 Aug 2026. The Álvarez claim sits outside both.
We don’t have opinions. We have timestamps.

THE MALICK FOFANA SAGA, COUNTED
@MsiDouglas expected a lot of deleted posts once this resolved. @lee_davies86 asked us to look. Here is the count, AS IT STANDS (there is still time) -
50 claims on our record. 9 different clubs named. 1 deleted.
The sequence:
Tottenham on 17 Jun, Galatasaray on 14 Aug, Roma on 17 Aug, Lyon at 13:00 and RB Leipzig at 15:38 on 31 Aug, Arsenal at 16:45 that evening, Bayern at 08:28 this morning, Sunderland at 10:45. Crystal Palace features too.
The one deletion:
@Ekremkonur’s Roma post from 17 Aug, removed at 10:58 today, 12 minutes after the Sunderland agreement broke. It had stood 14d 15h 33m. @FabrizioRomano and @AlfredoPedulla made the same Roma claim within the same hour that evening, and both of their posts are still up.
On the resolution itself:
@FabrizioRomano named Sunderland first at 10:45, inside a post about Arsenal walking away from the €40m asking price. @David_Ornstein broke the agreement at 10:46. Then @MarioCortegana at 10:48, @indykaila and @JacobsBen at 10:50.
So the honest answer to the question:
The saga moved through nine clubs in eleven weeks and almost nobody deleted anything. Being overtaken by events is not the same as being wrong.
We will continue to monitor, and will update accordingly.
We don’t have opinions. We have timestamps.

CREDIT, CHECKED:
@David_Ornstein on Femi Azeez
@David_Ornstein posted the Brighton agreement as an exclusive at 14:26 today, then at 14:33 added: “Apologies - after @JacobsBen@alex_crook.”
Our record says he was right to.
14:23 @alex_crook: Brighton have agreed a deal with Millwall for Femi Azeez.
14:24 @JacobsBen: the move has now been agreed.
14:26 @David_Ornstein: EXCL, agreement reached.
Three minutes and two minutes. The correction came 7 minutes after his own post.
What the record also shows, and he did not say: he led this saga.
On 30 Aug at 19:55 he had Brighton stepping up their pursuit with two bids already rejected, which is 19h 39m before the first Azeez post from either of the other two. At 15:40 on 31 Aug he had the player telling Millwall he wanted to go.
First on the story by 19h 39m, beaten to the agreement by 3 minutes, and said so himself within 7.
For completeness: @Ekremkonur mentioned Brighton’s interest in passing on 18 Aug, inside a post about a different player.

FURTHER DELETION:
@Ekremkonur on El Chadaille Bitshiabu
POSTED: 26 Aug, 14:15
DELETED: 1 Sept, 11:32
STOOD FOR: 5d 21h 17m
CORRECTION: none
The claim, in our words: Lens had asked about Bitshiabu, who was open to a return to Ligue 1 before the window shut.
WHAT SAT EITHER SIDE OF IT?
26 Aug, 14:15: the post goes up.
31 Aug, 15:37: @Plettigoal rules out a move to RB Salzburg.
1 Sept, 08:59: @Plettigoal has Galatasaray in advanced talks with RB Leipzig.
1 Sept, 11:31: @Plettigoal calls it done. Galatasaray, loan with an option to buy.
1 Sept, 11:32: the post comes down, one minute later.
WHO ELSE REPORTED IT?
Nobody we track. It is the only one of four Bitshiabu posts on our record to mention Lens. Off X it was carried in Germany, and it was right: the Lens loan was close and collapsed when the two clubs could not agree final terms.
THEIR RECORD: 41 deletions from 1,553 posts since 1 June. 34 plain removals, 7 corrected reposts. 8 came down inside 10 minutes. 25 stood longer than a day.
We don’t have opinions. We have timestamps.
