Everyone told me a factory job was safe.

In 2012, I started there as an engineer.
My first salary was 14,000 ₽ ($450) a month.

Ten years later, I left that world completely.

This is the first post in a series about how it happened, what it taught me, and why I wouldn’t change a thing 👇

As a kid, I loved taking our PC apart, playing games until late, and dreaming that one day I’d make games myself.

But when it came to university, I followed my grades rather than my dream.

I enrolled in Automation and Control in Technical Systems.

For my thesis internship, I didn’t choose the “promising” company.
I chose the factory in Moscow closest to home.
I defended my thesis with top marks.
And then I stayed.

The factory gave me things no university course could:

• Discipline: five days a week, up at 5 a.m. to be there on time to beat the traffic.
• The ability to work with my hands and see the result of my work.
• Responsibility: when something breaks, you don’t say “that’s not my problem.”
• Patience with bureaucracy, processes, and people.

But after a few years, I felt something change.

I looked around and realized that moving forward meant waiting - sometimes for years - until someone above me moved on.

That’s when I remembered the kid who wanted to build games.

I had an iPhone 4s in my pocket. I wanted to make apps for it.

There was just one problem: I needed a Mac.

And I didn’t have one.

I just turned 35 🎉

At 25 I decided to change careers and become a developer. The path wasn't exactly easy, but by 30 I was in IT.

Five years later, almost everything is different.

Проблема в следующем: на моем видео https://t.co/E3brjoubt1 не отображаются таймкоды на временной шкале. Все оформлено по правилам. Раньше они были, но после изменения описания пропали и не появляются. Я что-то упустил?
