https://t.co/j9HcxaYxqC is a free subscription test to identify if your child has low visual processing causing early reading failure if a visual approach is used in the classroom. https://t.co/ndFUbap9O8 tells you why & why boys are most at risk.
Spot on ... there is little chance of success while University teacher training colleges persist in teaching & promoting failed methods to infant & primary teachers. You can't just demand that teachers 'teach phonics' when they don't know HOW.

@TeachingTricks A certificate declaring me as a professional like all other professionals. (Absolving me from departmental thought bubble interference). Teachers want to teach - not to be muzzled & constantly badgered to do either academic or departmental bidding.
@JohnKenny03 @PamelaSnow2 Beware the "Balanced Approach" - Phonics & Whole Word Guessing are competitive at the learning to read stage NOT complementary & also confusing. If you offer an impulsive infant the option of guessing he will take it. Phonics first - always - followed by other strategies later.
Plus Academics failing to provide adequate teacher training. We so need to deconstruct 'constructivism' before we can see the light of day again - and get on with the task of equipping our teachers with the knowledge they need to teach our children to read & write independently. https://t.co/Uop2LW0FcP
@PuzzleFast Thank you, thank you ... growing brains love puzzles - they exercise our minds & stimulate cognitive function. That it's free is a fabulous bonus.
@J__Donner@mikesalter74 @JohnKenny03 The entire English speaking world has been hijacked by 'constuctivist' meddlers. I ran a tutoring centre for 18 yrs (100+ students per week). Our team saw the collateral damage first hand. 70% of our students suffered 'teachlexia', compliments of gov Ed Dept interference.
@J__Donner@mikesalter74 @JohnKenny03 I'd be worried for you if you said you did understand it ... any real professional would call it for what it is - gibberish. Did you know it is possible to write an entire curriculum on nothing but motherhood statements like this? See Tasmanian Essential Learnings 2000.
@TVtheTeacher @JohnKenny03 Which they DON'T teach you in teacher training collages (offends their constuctivist sensitivities). By the way their self proclaimed "evidence" is not of the variety that works. Despite everything, teachers rise up to the challenge. Amazing.
@jmr12765 Teachers are victims too. Trainee teachers have complained repeatedly that they don't know exactly how to teach reading & spelling. Their concerns fall on deaf ears. Academics peddling inferior training is the root of the problem.
Thank you, thank you. This explains so much about the British struggles and the upcoming problems of adopting the test in Australia with so many ifs & buts issues. This article shines a torch on the compounding factors in our current curricular mess that need addressing first. https://t.co/b7hjZMyurY
‘Sub-optimal reading instruction in the first three years of school, for example, forms the basis of a corrosive disengagement from learning & invites a raft of psychosocial sequelae that are painful for students, teachers, and parents.....’ https://t.co/Rz4btNTMoO
I ran a learning centre with 100 or more students filing through each week. 70% with no significant learning problems. For these students the fix was fast. Their main comment? Why didn't somebody tell me this before?" Indeed. https://t.co/ltmYFketi4
We have a local parent help organisation by the name of 'Square Pegs' :) They point out that, "What is good for the dyslexic learner is good for all learners who are learning to read, spell and write." A thumbs up on that one from me.
