The Ministry of National Defence has strongly condemned remarks by the Commander of Thailand’s 2nd Army Region, Boonsin Padklang, for openly announcing plans to seize Cambodian territory, a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement.
The Cambodian diaspora holds a rally to call for peace in the ongoing armed conflict between Thailand and Cambodia in front of the Victoria Parliament in the state of Victoria, Australia.
One of the participants, Pen Sophanith, said that he joined with other Cambodian fellows in the rally as he wants to show the world that Cambodia wants peace, not war.
“We also want to show solidarity with our Cambodians back home,” he said.
The ongoing clashes now enter their fourth day. At least 30 people have been killed in both countries, while tens of thousands of others have been displaced.
