I was leaving a photo studio in the middle of nowhere Chiang Mai when someone walked up like, “Yammi???” and I’m like heyyy lolll. Turns out she’d been following my journey on X about moving to Thailand, and had thought to herself, “wouldn’t it be funny if I bumped into Yam?” and then it actually happened 😭

My Grab taxi had just pulled up but something in me was like cancel it so I did and we ended having a moment together…

Now we're friends and she's even promised to come back to Chiang Mai to celebrate Loy Krathong with me. There’s a rule I live by that’s given me some of the best friendships ever: if it feels like the kind of story you’d want to tell strangers, then it’s probably the start of a friendship worth keeping.
