Hey cat lovers 👋 my mom and I need some help funding eye removal surgeries for two kittens who are blind from severe eye infections as newborns. The vet office is only charging $1000 so we’re hoping for only $300 to help us out a bit. Thanks a ton! 😽

“By the time we get to April, that will be what I would call open season,” Dr. Anthony Fauci says about the timeline for vaccination availability for all groups to begin getting shots.
I just received a positive COVID-19 test result after being locked down in a secured room at the Capitol where several Republicans not only cruelly refused to wear a mask but recklessly mocked colleagues and staff who offered them one.

After seeing multiple medical professionals down-play the role racism played in the death of #DrSusanMoore, I have been thinking of how to describe the logistics of how racism manifests in medicine. One way is what I will, in this thread, call "cumulative de-prioritization." 1/
As a nation, we need to understand four key messages about racism: Racism exists. Racism is a system. Racism saps the strength of the whole society. We must act to dismantle racism.
I’m climbing onto my soapbox tonight. When the art of medicine was being developed, we met patients where they are— literally. Then, medicine shifted, and we put ourselves into ivory towers and demanded that patients come to us— both literally and figuratively.
@AutismDrMom It is alarming that in recent weeks 2 Black physicians have died under questionable circumstances in Indiana hospitals. Our State Health Department should utilize its authority to examine these deaths and take action as needed. The public needs confidence in our healthcare system
We lost another doctor today

“The new oath asks physicians to eliminate biases, combat disinformation to improve health literacy, be an ally to minorities and other underserved groups, and learn about the social determinants of health ‘to use my voice to advocate for a more equitable health care system.’”
For those “overachieving” students, there’s a huge difference between first gen mentality and gunner mentality. One is for generational survival, the other is for self-gratification. Never confuse the two and never underestimate the power of a first gen.
In a training session, a doctor said “just because your patients are resilient doesn’t mean they aren’t suffering.” This concept of coexistence struck me. Resilience is often out of necessity, and doesn’t mean someone is “okay.” #MedTwitter
RBG dying on the same day as my first exam in medical school is a stark reminder that there are far more important battles to fight than getting that top grade.
I’ll put the work in and get the MD, not to beat my peers, but to have a chance to fight injustice in medicine.
The most immediate flaw of health disparities 101 style lectures in medical curricula is that they assume their audience doesnt include anyone with lived experience of those disparities
