@travispickler@lelanddJG Similar to how Shavkhat handled it spamming the clinch, but I think Islam is more likely to be able to secure the takedown. Islam striking isn’t as dangerous as Shavkhat but I think he’s able to close the range in a more calculated way.
@MigClass Short form content prevails man, average attention span is 0 so a cut up 15-60 sec video prolly would hit nicely. Would provide a lot of content too since you can have a lot of clips
@MikhailDawson@MchaelSNM1@lelanddJG@BenJMMA03 ilia was controlling the cage but gaethje is the one who didnt allow him to do anything without punishment (par 2nd round, even in that he was trading). Gaethje was mixing the arts well too with the single legs into a collar tie. much more resistance than ilias usual fights.
@MikhailDawson@MchaelSNM1@lelanddJG@BenJMMA03 its because he wasnt forced to set anything up. gaethje was backing up with not as much lateral movement as someone like volk or holloway. your second point is correct, but he was taking heavy damage which led to his downfall while trying to get the KO
@MikhailDawson@MchaelSNM1@lelanddJG@BenJMMA03 also gaethje implemented a collar tie into uppercut which was destroying topurias face. that wasn't because ilia was "off", he just did not have an answer. live another day and improve
@MikhailDawson@MchaelSNM1@lelanddJG@BenJMMA03 other opponents also have landed, but not at the volume (they werent as persistent) and the damage. Ilia wasn't allowed to fight at his pace. He was forced to adapt. he fought well in the second, but then fell off as he got tired, and did not have another level available.
@MikhailDawson@MchaelSNM1@lelanddJG@BenJMMA03 a fighter looking bad ≠ a fighter being off
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen fighters look “untouchable” then a certain matchup comes around and suddenly everything is off.
