Just had to graph the chart of Canada's brutal recession...
But in all seriousness:
1. this data is preliminary and will be revised (upwards) 2. technical recessions do not exist
3. Canada is not in a recession
@spritepapi_@WatcherGuru You want to talk about a mild technical recession: a technical recession being called on 0.0% growth lol

I’m sure Q2 we will see a re-acceleration and 2026 GDP will end up yoy
Total Canadian housing permits inched up to the highest level in 5 months in data released today, with multi-family permits at the 6th-highest pace since monthly data began, and single-family permits at the 5th-lowest

@KrisPatel99 Iran's proposed tolls in the Strait of Hormuz are considered illegal under international maritime law, specifically the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS)
@FunOfInvesting The “Canada is broken” thing is old and honestly embarrassing at this point.
The happiness drop everyone keeps citing? The actual report says it’s social media use over 7hrs a day. Same story in the US, UK, Australia. The US just hit its lowest happiness score ever recorded 🤷♂️
⚠️US youth unemployment is RISING, as if there is a RECESSION:
Youth underemployment reached ~17%, the highest since the 2020 CRISIS.
This is now at levels seen during the Great Financial Crisis and the 2001 recession.
The national jobless rate is likely next to rise.
@KrisPatel99 If big tech broke the law, they should be held accountable. Trump admin sued the shit out of big tech and they all settled, I’m sure many more admins in the future will do the same
