These 10 planters, structures unpermitted by the @LACity Bureau of Engineering, represent just a fraction of the 100s around Venice, all illegally installed to displace the unhoused, with complicity from @MikeBoninLA, @LAPDHQ and the @MayorOfLA#HousingNotPlanters 351 Sunset

This is how our fight for abolition is co-opted by groups like @STOPSpyingNY. Knowing surveillance is deeply Anti-Black, New York today passed the POST Act that will legitimize surveillance and expand the power of NYPD to Trace, Track and Monitor.
Join our statement, #8CantWait is a toothless set of demands that doesn't target fundamental ways & racist underpinnings that govern policing. It serves as a valve to release pressure & distracts from the movement to #Defundthepolice & end the violence and killings of Black ppl
Folks in @MikeBoninLA’s office told @LifeinVenice that permits related to Public Storage were suspended but apparently @mikebonin forgot to tell Public Storage, who said as of May 5th this was still in process
Public Storage in Venice, who have for years used different ways to try to terrorize houseless people, from 2am dousing with water, 6am spraywashing and physical threats, seem poised to try and “do it the legal way” thanks to our city’s govt always falling in line with NIMBY $
So @MikeBoninLA’s office “has no idea” about this project that, according to owner of landscape architecture firm from Corona, CA on the street today, they’re beginning construction on Monday... Mike, you don’t know about this? 🤔🤔🤔🤔 @DotKohlhaas@LACANetwork@StreetWatchLA
@LifeinVenice@MikeBoninLA@DotKohlhaas@LACANetwork@StreetWatchLA@PublicStorage Yup, and in 2018 they would turn on the sprinklers in the middle of the night to pour water out onto tents in Third, during a drought, which was, ya know, morally reprehensible and illegal. While we helped to get them to stop, then they started power-washing 2x per week at 6am.

Does the @VeniceNC condone the filming of + making fun of homeless people in Venice? Is making dumb, exploitative videos to rile up anti-poor sentiment among housed assholes in Venice in the job description of sitting members of the VNC? Just wonderin 🤷♂️

#3aDayinLA dying on the streets has been happening long before this public health crisis. Hard to hold the “glad this happening” part with the “why hasn’t this been city/CD policy for a decade?”
🚨ACTION ALERT: Tomorrow, Wednesday 1/29 at 10 am, please join us at City Hall to give comment on Mitch O’Farrell’s motion for services at the Echo Park Lake. We would like folks to come out to share how brutal these sweeps are and urge the councilmember to meet with residents.
At Palms/Lincoln right now.
The planters on the south side of Palms are off the sidewalk and in the hardware store parking lot where they belong.
But the ones on the North side near Staples are still on the sidewalk.
