This is one of those things that people understand only when they’ve lived through it.

Imagine studying for years, sacrificing your social life, missing festivals, birthdays, sleep, and putting everything into one exam because you believe that if you score well, you’ll earn your seat. Then you score 510, which is objectively a good score, and still don’t get admission. Meanwhile, someone with 388 gets into MBBS.

Whether people agree with the policy or not, you can’t expect the person who missed out to simply move on as if nothing happened. That disappointment stays with you. It changes the way you look at words like “merit,” “fairness,” and “opportunity.”

I’m not blaming the person who got the seat. They didn’t make the rules. Anyone in their position would probably accept the opportunity. The real discussion has always been about the system.

But I can also understand why seeing that same person years later saying, “The education system is unfair,” would hurt. The first thought that naturally comes to mind is, “If it feels unfair to you today, can you imagine how it felt for those who lost their dream despite scoring much higher?”

This isn’t about jealousy or holding grudges. It’s about the reality that every policy has two sides. One person’s opportunity can become another person’s heartbreak. Behind every cutoff, every rank, and every admission list is a real human being whose life took a completely different direction.

That’s why these conversations are never simple. They aren’t just about numbers. They’re about dreams, years of hard work, and the feeling of watching your future slip away despite doing everything you were told to do.

நீட் தேர்வைப் பொறுத்தவரை நீட் தேர்வுமுறை அறவே அகற்றப்பட வேண்டும் என்பதே த.வெ.க.-வின் சமரசமற்ற நிலைப்பாடு. மாணவர்களை மட்டுமல்லாது அவர்களது குடும்பங்களையும் வெகுவாகப் பாதிக்கும் நீட் தேர்வு முறையை வைத்து வாக்கு அரசியல் செய்வதற்காக, பொய்யான வாக்குறுதிகளை நாம் ஒருபோதும் அளிக்கமாட்டோம்.

நீட் தேர்வு போன்றவை ஒழிக்கப்பட வேண்டுமெனில், முதலில் கல்வியை மாநிலப் பட்டியலுக்கு மாற்ற வேண்டும். அது மட்டுமே ஒரே நிரந்தரத் தீர்வாக இருக்க முடியும். ஒருவேளை, அதில் ஏதேனும் சட்ட நடைமுறைச் சிக்கல்கள் இருக்குமெனில், அவற்றை நிவர்த்தி செய்யும் வரை, இடைக்காலத் தீர்வாக, Special Concurrent list உருவாக்கி, அதன் மூலம் மாநில அரசுகளுக்கு அதிகாரம் வழங்க வேண்டும். அதன் வாயிலாகக் கல்வி மற்றும் மருத்துவக் கல்வி உள்ளிட்ட விஷயங்களில் மாநிலங்களுக்கு முழு அதிகாரம் கிடைக்க வழிவகை செய்யப்பட வேண்டும். இதுதான் நிரந்தரத் தீர்வு மற்றும் இடைக்காலத் தீர்வு நோக்கிய நம்முடைய பார்வை. இதை, கட்சி தொடங்கியபோதே, நம் கழகத்தின் சார்பாக நடைபெற்ற கல்வி விருது வழங்கும் விழாவிலேயே ஆழமாக வலியுறுத்தி இருக்கிறோம்.

நம் மக்களின் உணர்வுகளையும் மாணவர்களின் உணர்வுகளையும் ஒன்றிய அரசு மதித்தே ஆக வேண்டும். அதன் வெளிப்பாடாக, நீட் தேர்வு அறவே அகற்றப்பட வேண்டும். இந்தச் சிக்கலுக்கு இது மட்டுமே ஒரே தீர்வு என்பதை மீண்டும் வலியுறுத்துகிறோம்.
