Patrick "Les Raftsmen", Patrick brings us to the little house in Lac St-Jean in QC where his entire family would crowd in for Christmas celebrations with his Matante Marie-Paule. This song was a staple at those gatherings, complete with fogged-up windows, music, and revelry.

Roots Medley: Les Raftsmen - Patrick // Avec Les Raftsmen, Patrick nous fait visiter une petite maison au Lac-Saint-Jean où toute sa grande famille se réunissait pour célébrer Noël chez matante Marie-Paule. Cette chanson lui rappelle ces réunions festives aux fenêtres embuées.

Christie a grandi dans une famille pieuse et se rappelle avoir entendu How Great Thou Art lors des funérailles de son arrière-grand-mère. Christie a compris que ce sincère chant d'adoration est en fait rempli de joie et d'émerveillement, en faisant l'un de ses favoris depuis.

Prairie girl Christie grew up in a United Church family and remembers hearing "How Great Thou Art" sung at her great-grandmother's memorial. Christie realized that this sincere song of worship is indeed joy and wonder-filled, and it has been one of her favourites ever since.

🍃Our Roots Medley: Edmund Fitzgerald - James // Gordon Lightfoot's "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" has the status of unofficial national anthem to those who live along the shores of the Great Lakes, as James Kalyn did while growing up.

Koppången est une superbe pièce suédoise composée par Per-Erik Moraeus qui rappelle à Karin son pays d'origine. Il ya également un lien avec le groupe pop ABBA qui a aussi eu une importante influence sur l'enfance de Karin, mais ce lien est trop complexe pour s'y pencher ici!

Our Roots Medley: Karin/Koppången is a beautiful Swedish tune composed by Per-Erik Moraeus that reminds Karin of her home country. There is also a connection with the pop band ABBA, which was definitely a part of Karin's childhood, through a thread too complicated to follow here!
