I get what she's saying I and I agree with the criticism, but it's impossible to analyze Thai GL without considering the huge cultural differences between West and East. It's just not gonna happen. The West is not their target audience and that's ok.

@goodbyefriend @chooset0change When you watch many GLs you realize that even the worst parents ever are always redeemed in the end, which to us seems absurd, but even in a fake reality they still wanna make sure the family is not broken no matter how taxing or cruel the situation is.

I don't want to be that person who's telling people how to act in their own reality. I don't think that's what the OP was doing, just for the record. Just wanted to add to the debate.

@goodbyefriend @chooset0change Agreed. The family relationships and pressure of meeting those expectations are way too high if compared to the West. I think that plays a big role too. You're expected to look a certain way, to be wealthy, etc The fear of disappointment is too great. That prevents progress too.
