An undergraduate project! Morphological adaptations for gliding in frogs make them clingier in "Journal of Zoology". https://t.co/nA7SR6MtGb @jcu@enviro_sci
Our recent #AquaticEcology class from swamp to sea @UniNewEngland - I love watching students realise that this is how we test theoretical models - in #rivers, with waders and nets! So much fun @ERS_UNE
New paper based on #data from an undergrad class (students are authors). Flying frog morphology does not help #frogs travel further when jumping from low points, but flying frogs are stickier than their non-flying relatives. #Ecomorphology#Borneo

Jaren Serano is a key local leader in our efforts to #SaveTheHicatee. He has been given the amazing opportunity to study #conservation at @USouthFlorida & plans on returning to #Belize to apply what he learns. Help support him on #Gofundme https://t.co/Cfe8uBSFk5 #Turtles
Giving my #PhD pre-completion seminar on #frog#genetics, #microbiomes, & disease #ecology today, 1 of the final milestones for my degree. Pretty sure I'm dressed appropriately. Like @donttrythis I think failure is an inherent & fundamental part of #science & should be embraced
@DiamondandSilk A. The value of a life is not determined by the country of birth
B. Crime rates among immigrants are lower than among the general public. Most are fleeing violence, poverty, etc. Their lives matter
C. They are only "illegal" because of the current laws. Those laws need to change
Our latest paper ("The return of the frogs") examining population genetics of #frogs after recovery from a disease outbreak. Populations with high-quality habitat retained diversity, while populations with little habitat lost diversity. PM me for full text https://t.co/KPD040jV5O
Critically endangered #Hicatee are incredible #turtles. The last member of their family, they're strictly aquatic, grow to over 20kg, have enormous webbed feet, & are herbivorous. Males (like this 10kg individual) have beautiful yellow heads. They are truly unique. #Conservation
Here's a short video of 1 of our male #Hicatee swimming away after being marked and measured (they're much faster than me). Note the huge webbed feet, yellow head, and massive tail. It would be tragic to lose such incredible #turtles#SaveTheHicatee#conservation@TurtleSurvival
When threatened, young #Hicatee have the adorable habit of covering their face with their front feet. "If I can't see him, he can't see me." Also, note the heavily serrated beak for shredding vegetation. #Turtles#Conservation#Research#Reptiles#SaveTheHicatee
