The secret movie to KHII is about the events of Birth by Sleep, then that came in like 3 years after II
And since then each game mention something about the main plot OR the next game on the line
Don't remember a single instance SE talking about a part III

But my understanding of a spin off is a side story that is developed outside the main story and it doesnt impact the original one in any sort of way
