@Tennessean Thanks for this update, but why aren’t the winter storm & power outages getting front page coverage?
STARS Nashville does critically important work, but with 38k @NESpower customers (which translates to 2x or 3x actual people) still w/o power, that needs to be front page.
@WPLN Just a heads up on a letter-swap error in the 5pm news cast. The website for the Community Foundation of Middle TN’s donation page for the Antioch school shooting was given as https://t.co/REgOslmM5Z. The correct address is https://t.co/cfaNbyiHJp
@PaigePfleger@VoteBo This a textbook case of the danger of unintended consequences.
As co-sponsor of this well-intentioned but poorly thought-through bill, what are you going to do to fix it?
An 11 year old child with autism is arrested and put in handcuffs and the back of a police car by an SRO while out at a family dinner.

Over the last few months, @AliyyaSwaby and I have been investigating a TN law that makes threats of mass violence at school a felony, even for kids. We've found the law casts a wide net, entangling children in the justice system over rumors and jokes: https://t.co/nBcRmCBnxh 🧵
@TNFreedom21 @JeremyFaison4TN @robbystarbuck But I think we mostly agree: your first post asking about "what the specific need is" was 100% spot-on. And 48-72 hours of nonstop the same things is definitely inefficient.
Unfortunately it's just a very difficult logistical problem to solve.
@TNFreedom21 @JeremyFaison4TN @robbystarbuck ...Personal care items are great and will almost always be used. Clothing is the number one thing that ends up in the landfill.
I know it's not easy to hear, but I've seen it happen in several disasters since 2020 & it's a recurring problem in disaster relief.
@JeremyFaison4TN @robbystarbuck ...eventually go unused. Also, organizing & managing mass donation of items is a logistical nightmare that takes volunteer time away from cleanup, etc.
Instead, direct financial donations to disaster survivors so they can purchase what they truly need is the best way to help!🙏🙌
@JeremyFaison4TN @robbystarbuck @JeremyFaison4TN This is fantastic & I love the helping spirit, but here's a sad but hard truth: much of this may eventually end up in the landfill.
I've worked in disaster relief since 2020, & unless specific items have been requested by specific disaster survivors, they may...
@TNFreedom21 @JeremyFaison4TN @robbystarbuck This is the way. Don't send items unless they've been specifically requested by specific disaster survivors who will come pick them up, otherwise it risks eventually ending up in the landfill. Direct financial assistance is best. (I work in disaster ministry for a church in TN).
@robbystarbuck @JeremyFaison4TN ...The best way to help disaster survivors is to provide direct financial aid so they can purchase exactly what they need.
This also frees up volunteers to help with cleanup and other needs as opposed to endlessly organizing & managing donations.
@robbystarbuck @JeremyFaison4TN ...will end up eventually being donated to a food bank or other nonprofit org. After the March 2020 tornado in Nashville, so much stuff was donated & although much of it was used, too much of it ended up left over & was donated to other non-disaster orgs or worse, thrown away...
@PeacockTVCare@SpotUpShooter We subscribed to watch the Olympics. Never was this short timeline explained or mentioned anywhere. We never would have imagined that the Closing Ceremony would no longer be available LESS THAN 48 HOURS afterwards.
