[Snagged @snagged]

Mike O'Connor helped popularize the internet in Minnesota, and in the mid-90s he registered a handful of one-word .coms.

One he tucked away and never built on: https://t.co/8YMh68V6io.

While it sat there, @Microsoft shipped Windows 2000 with "Corp" as the example name for an internal network, and thousands of IT departments kept the default.

Those laptops spent years knocking on https://t.co/8YMh68V6io's door, sending passwords and emails to whoever held the domain.

When @briankrebs wrote about it in 2020, Mike decided to sell, mostly because he didn't want his kids inheriting a domain that passively collected Fortune 500 credentials.

Microsoft agreed to buy it, and https://t.co/8YMh68V6io now sits in their portfolio…doing nothing.

After 26 years of leaking secrets by default, https://t.co/8YMh68V6io is finally taking a long, overdue time-out.

@kevinweil @DomainStrategic @lightspeedvp Congrats Kevin !!!!

💥 Introducing Warp Sciences, a new company applying AI and robotics to help the world develop new medicines faster.

We’ve raised a $215M Series A led by @lightspeedvp to bring frontier AI out of the browser and into the lab, and build scientific capacity here in America.

I co-founded Warp with my long-time friend @dpatil, FAIR co-founder @manohar_paluri, and drug hunter Sol Reisberg. The early team is full of incredible people like @bkspears9, who helped achieve Q>1 fusion at LLNL.
