🧵Let’s talk about Alt Text
Yesterday while going through X we came across the two posts below in our for you feed.
Both posts use the x Alt Text Feature to provide inspirational messages, instead of using it for describing images to those who use screen readers. @RNIB /1
The #Paris2024 opening ceremony takes place tonight, but have you heard about Robby The Robot?
Robby will be heading around Olympic venues, allowing young people with disabilities to access and interact with the Olympics from hospital. 1/5
Audio description is available for NBC Viewers in the states, but unfortunately it’s not available here in Ireland this time around.
While there are definitely some super cool projects taking place to make the Paris Games accessible, there’s still stuff to work on for 2028 4/5
We are delighted to share this blog post from Vision Ireland Group CEO Chris White, explaining why charities should be making their annual reports accessible for those with disabilities.

Toy company Mattel have released many inclusive Barbies over the years, including hearing loss Barbie, Down's syndrome Barbie and Barbie in a wheelchair.

All Swifties deserve to enjoy the Eras Tour. Huge well done to all who made this happen🎉@PerformInterp
We need to make sure that entertainment is accessible across the board, from accessible online ticketing, to audio description and sign language at events👍 top job🔥#ErasTour
The ISL interpreters at the Era's Tour in Dublin put on a serious show❤️
There was an ISL area for those who are deaf and hard of hearing, as well as a screen with captions so that Taylor fans wouldn’t miss a word👏 More and more concerts are offering ISL interpreters at gigs, including Pink’s Aviva show in June

Imagine your going through x when suddenly all you could see were the usernames.
That was reality for many visually impaired and blind users this week after the Voiceover accessibility in the X IOS app broke.
Turns out firing your accessibility team leads to problems🤦1/6
Hopefully this can serve as a reminder to take accessibility seriously. Users with disabilities are valuable, and an incident like this doesn’t do any brand any favours.
X is now fixed, let’s hope this doesn’t happen again.5/6
Stand by Europe🇪🇺
As of today, the European Accessibility Act is just one year away.
You now have one year to make sure your websites, apps, and digital experiences are accessible to all.
If you haven’t got an accessibility audit yet, it’s time to act

Fun fact
Did you know that the Euros official app is providing Visually impaired sports fans with audio descriptive commentary?
This is a great example of how technology can be used to make content more accessible for those with disabilities⚽️

We were delighted to work with the fantastic team from @PTSBIreland to help them build a banking experience that’s more digitally accessible.
Read about the work we did with them here👇 https://t.co/5gN3v20LNN
@DubTechSummit@Avid AI can also have benefits when it comes to accessibility, but it should be used to enhance things, not replace human involvement. Pros and cons. It’s an interesting discussion that we’ll certainly hear more of in the coming months and years.
These are just some of the features on Apple devices helping those with disabilities. If your app can’t be used by disabled users you’re leaving money on the table.
Check if your companies app is accessible today. Email [email protected] or DM us to discuss an audit
🧵it’s thread time🧵
