Half of the country is in "exceptionally serious drought" - putting us at more risk of wildfires and threatening our food security.
Meanwhile water companies are wasting a staggering 2.87 billion litres of water every day through leaky pipes.
Time to end water privatisation.
We need to stop this “it’s only weather,” “it’s just summer,” “wildfires happen,” or “just rake the forests,” BS.
Seeing all this devastation and you’re still denying…it’s suicidal at at this point.
Most wildfires are started by humans. But climate change makes wildfires bigger, more likely and more intense.
I don’t know what that’s so hard for some people to understand.
Some of y’all aren’t nearly concerned enough about the future of our drinking water. We need it to survive, and so do our pets, crops, and livestock. Water resources are under increasing pressure from many sources, including the growing demand from data centers. If we don’t take water conservation seriously, the consequences could be severe. No technology is worth treating clean, potable water as expendable.
Every time I post about a wildfire, the clueless flood the comments shouting "arson!" to deflect from the real crisis.
It does not matter how the fire started. Fixating on the initial spark is a distraction for the simple-minded.
The brutal reality is that climate change has turned our landscapes into tinderboxes. Rising temperatures and prolonged droughts mean that any minor ignition instantly escalates into an inferno.
It's not rocket science!
I don’t think people understand how insane this game was. The majority of the second half England was down 2 players, the referee had gone on what was essentially a power trip and the Argentinians only got more violent as time went on. To the point where after they disallowed-
Compared to yesterday this match is genuinely so boring, isn't it?
I'm only watching to keep an eye on my bets and hope one comes in so I can buy more books 😂😂
I need a sugar daddy to fund my habit 😝
Yes, boys!! 🎉 ⚽️🏴💪
France, you played so well, too.
Cheers for a good match and no dirty sportsmanship 👏
And my bets worked for only the second time this tournament 😂
#England#ENG
guys we don't survive without all the other species that keep this planet habitable. ecocide is horrifying in its own right, but it will also KILL US!!!!!!
Let me explain wildfires and climate change for the slow learners in the back.
More heat means thirstier air.
♦ Carbon emissions trap heat globally.
♦ Hotter air acts like a sponge.
♦ It sucks moisture out of plants.
♦ It sucks moisture out of soil.
♦ Dry plants turn into perfect tinder
Fire seasons are now longer.
♦ Snow melts much earlier in spring.
♦ Autumn rains arrive much later now.
♦ The dry period lasts weeks longer.
♦ Longer dry periods mean more fires.
Bugs are making it worse.
♦ Warmer winters fail to kill pests.
♦ Pine beetles are multiplying rapidly now.
♦ Pests kill millions of forest trees.
♦ Dead trees create massive fuel piles.
Extreme weather creates spark triggers.
♦ Climate change shifts atmospheric jet streams.
♦ This causes more frequent dry lightning.
♦ It also creates much stronger winds.
♦ Winds fan tiny sparks into infernos.
Climate change is the amplifier.
♦ Campfires and arson still start fires.
♦ Human carelessness triggers the initial spark.
♦ But climate change prepares the fuel.
♦ It turns small fires into monsters.
You're welcome.
Anyone else get emotional when they think about the Earth for too long? Like she’s so beautiful and magical and we treat her so awfully; it literally breaks my heart
