Punjikasthala was born on earth as a Vanar kanya named Anjana. She was married to the Vanara king Kesari. Despite marriage, she was childless for longtime. She started intense Tapasya of Mahadevji for years in Kishkindha region. Which we call today Anajana Hills near Hampi.
Finally Mahadevji got pleased and gave her the boon of a child. Vayu Dev acted as the carrier of Prana, who transmitted the divine Rudra energy of Mahadev into Anjana's womb. Thus we found the Rudra Avatar of Shiva as Maruti.
Only divine transformed soul could become Hanumanji's mother. For such birth, mother needed Tapasya and purification. Curse prepared her, it didnt punish her. Even curse can become a path to divine purpose.
