पता ही नहीं चला

शायद कुछ रिश्ते टूटते नहीं…

When devastating flash floods hit Kerala, 61-year-old farmer Benny was trapped in the raging waters with little hope of survival.

Rescue volunteer R. Rajesh didn't hesitate.

He battled the powerful currents, reached the stranded farmer, and began bringing him back to safety. But when Benny struggled to stay afloat, Rajesh made an unimaginable decision—he removed his own life jacket and secured it onto the elderly farmer.

Benny survived.
Rajesh was swept away by the floodwaters and never returned.

बोलो दोस्त क्या सुनना चाहते हो?

जब एक दोस्त ने कहा कि

ऐसे मुश्किल समय में
तुम्हारी कविताएँ कहाँ हैं?

तब कविताओं की बेबसी का एहसास हुआ!
ये तो बात साफ़ थी कि

दोस्त कुछ सुनना चाहता था,
ज़ाहिर-सा कुछ

इसलिए मेरी क़लम के आलस ने
उसी से पूछ लिया...

बोलो दोस्त, क्या सुनना चाहते हो?
क्या उम्मीद सुनोगे?

कि बहार फिर से आएगी
वसंत आएगा दबे पाँव :

सेमल का गुलदस्ता लिए
या चाहते हो कि

घोंप दूँ तुम्हारी आत्मा में कुछ नुकीले सवाल?
कि क्यों

क्रम में और भ्रम में
दुआ, दवा से पहले आती है?

अस्पताल की नींव से पहले
दुआओं के काल्पनिक पत्थरों पर क्यों

सोने का पानी चढ़ता है?
और संवेदनाओं के क़त्��� में

क्यों अव्वल आता है हमेशा
तुम्हारा-मेरा मध्यवर्ग?

जो रात के खाने के बाद मीठे में
प्राइम-टाइम पर परोसी पुलिस की लाठी को

‘न्याय’ कह देता है!
बोलो दोस्त क्या सुनना चाहते हो?

क्या सच सुनोगे कि
सच अब कड़वा भी नहीं रहा

‘पोस्ट-ट्रुथ’ के दौर में
वह बाज़ार में आया एक दुर्लभ बेस्वाद फल है

जो पूँजीपतियों के हिस्से आना तय है
और तय है कि उसका भुगतान ग़रीब की चमड़ी से हो

जो पिटते-पिटते ही सही, पर ���र पहुँचना चाहे
तय है कि इनकी मजबूरी को तुम और मैं

आंचलिकता की टिप्पणियों से विदा करें
तय है कि तमाशा देख, आह निकालने के बाद

घर में बंद हमें आवारा कुत्तों से जलन हो
तय है कि क़ुदरत अपने बचाव में कुछ पासे फेंके

हमारी कल्पनाओं की दुनिया
जो हम चिल्लरों, काग़ज़ों से चलाते हैं

वह ढह जाए
तय है कि राशन की क़तारों में खड़े हुए

मेरी रीढ़ झुकना चाहे
फिर से बंदर बनने के लिए

और मुक्त हो जाना चाहे
कव��ताओं की सभ्यता के इस डरावने खेल से
