@trend_nosig@Drukair I hope I get to fly her with the clear vision system installed. Looks like crazy tech. Wonder what the dynamics are if QDM required
Here are the direct counters to Vikram Singh Mehta’s key claims
Claim 1 : The crisis was unforeseen and not deliberate.
Counter: IndiGo had over 2 years of notice for the new FDTL rules (notified Jan 2024, fully effective Nov 1, 2025). The meltdown was caused by deliberate understaffing, hiring freezes, and aggressive schedule expansion despite known crew shortages.
Claim 2 : IndiGo never tried to influence or lobby the government/DGCA.
Counter: IndiGo repeatedly pressed DGCA for exemptions and deferrals until late Oct 2025. After the crisis broke, it secured selective “one-time” FDTL relaxations (night duties & weekly rest) that DGCA had publicly ruled out just weeks earlier.
Claim 3: Safety was never compromised; full compliance with rules.
Counter: The post-crisis exemptions directly weaken fatigue-prevention rules (e.g., night landings up from 2 to 6 per roster, weekly rest cut from 48 h to 36 h). Pilot unions say this raises accident risk. Pre-crisis fatigue complaints were ignored.
Claim 4 : The board was actively involved from the start.
Counter: Board only formed a crisis group on Dec 7 and began daily briefings from Dec 5 — after thousands of flights were already cancelled and the DGCA had issued a show-cause notice. Proxy advisors and regulators have flagged governance lapses.
Claim 5: Normal operations will resume by Dec 15; refunds fully processed.
Counter: Cancellations continued (220+ on Dec 10), fares remain 5–7× normal, and full statutory compensation (beyond refunds) is still pending for most passengers. Delhi High Court and opposition are demanding stricter penalties.
6. Overall tone of the statement : “We are fixing it, trust us.”
Counter: Fixes are only happening under intense DGCA, court, and government pressure. The same management that caused the crisis is still in charge, and the “external experts” were announced only after the Prime Minister’s Office intervened
