Delighted to have been accepted to give a presentation at the Insight Conference on Deep Learning on 25th and 26th of May in Dublin City University. The title of our presentation is โTowards Temporal Stability in Automatic Video Colourisationโ. @eeenuigalway #colourised
Video resolution has a huge effect on a video's perceived quality. Old videos are often very low quality and need to be upscaled. This particular clip taken from Bold Emmett was originally 450x360 pixels but is now 1920x1080. @eeenuigalway #blackandwhite#irishfilm#colourised
As well as colouriation, another important factor in what makes a high-quality video is the frame rate. Lets take a clip from "Ireland A Nation" as an example. We have boosted the frame rate using RIFE to make the motion smoother. @eeenuigalway #blackandwhite#irishfilm
Last but not least for this series of spotlight videos is For Ireland's Sake. It tells the story of Marty and his sweetheart Eileen as they try to evade capture by the British Soldiers. This clip shows the couple before they were on the run. @eeenuigalway
Rory O'More is up for colourisation this time. This film tells the dramatised story of one of Ireland's great rebels. This particular clip shows Rory evading capture from the British soldiers by swimming through one of the Lakes of Killarney. @eeenuigalway
This week's chosen video is His Mother. It tells the all too familiar story of the heart-broken mother left behind when a son leaves home to follow his dreams. This particular clip shows the son honing his skills before starting his adventure. @eeenuigalway
The Colleen Bawn is this week's movie of the week. Based on true events, a mother tries to regain her wealth and social status by arranging a marriage for her son. His heart belongs to another though, The Colleen Bawn. @eeenuigalway
