Dementia diagnoses are climbing. Partly because we are aging longer. Partly because metabolic disease is earlier and worse.
The Lancet Commission on dementia prevention identified 12 modifiable risk factors responsible for 40% of dementia cases worldwide.
Here are 7 you can control in the next 90 days:
The protocol:
1. Move daily (8K steps minimum + resistance training 3-4x per week)
2. Control blood pressure and glucose (monitor it quarterly)
3. Maintain a healthy weight (waist-to-height ratio under 0.50)
4. Do not smoke
5. Limit alcohol to 1-2x per month max
6. Stay socially engaged
🕊 The legendary Tony Brown has died.
He was one of my inspirations from childhood on PBS. He was highly intelligent, informed and represented our people well for decades like Ed Bradley and Bob Law before him.
I can only hope to be worthy of his example.
Rest in Power ✊🏿
In any normal administration, a failure to protect one of our bases overseas would be a major issue requiring hearings and real accountability. Nowadays, we just get 30 second videos of our SecDef in PT shorts doing burpees and call it a day.

The family of Tony Brown, the trailblazing black journalist died last week at 93. His "Tony Brown's Journal" was the longest running series in the history of PBS. He was the founding dean of Howard's communication school and later inaugural dean Hampton's journalism school.
In the tradition of the black press, he rejected the activist/journalist distinction. Just one example: In 1963, he helped coordinate a 500,000 person march in Detroit where it is believed Martin Luther King first gave a version of the I Have A Dream speech.
Tony Brown's Journal with author Roy Beck & Exec Dir of the Center for Immigration Studies Mark Krikorian discussing legal & illegal immigration, and its impact on Black Americans in 2001.

Due to the destruction of Gaza’s schools in Israeli attacks and their use as shelters for the displaced, Dana Shabat is forced to continue her education remotely and walk an hour each day to a cafe to take her high school exams.

Yes, historical accounts of the Bolshevik Red Terror confirm that Cheka units in Kiev used this exact method: attaching an iron tube containing a rat to a bound victim's torso, then heating it so the rat would gnaw and burrow through the abdomen and guts to escape.
Christians, including Orthodox clergy, were among the many victims systematically persecuted, tortured, and killed by the Bolsheviks.
