Blue Haze Elementary first grade classrooms transformed into oceans today. After reading Three Little Fish and the Big Bad Shark, students answered math review questions so they could earn keys to unlock a Breakout box. #empoweringbears@BlueHazeWSISD@kdpearson@viewsfromfirst
I’m excited to announce that due to the incredible demand, #AntiracistBaby the board book is now a picture book! The hardcover picture book drops on July 14th.

To my white educators: Today, you’re posting about social justice, buying antiracist books, following brown folks, and temp changing your profile pictures. (thread)
Here’s what I need you to do tomorrow:
If Kindergarten had more dramatic play, blocks, kitchen, housekeeping, art, and music...the students would have time time practice their social emotional, problem solving, and self regulation skills. Then, their brains will be more prepared to learn foundational content & skills.
@emilyestes29 A5: I am not a pro at this, but I do *try* to give myself a cut-off time each day. Then I reward myself with guilt-free Netflix time 📺#BHEbookstudy
@emilyestes29 A4: I liked the idea of giving something to keep their hands busy like a stress ball. Some Ss might need this to help regulate their bodies. #BHEbookstudy
@emilyestes29 A3: we can use the visual of a two story house to help students understand their upstairs and downstairs brain. When we flip our lid the stairs are no longer connected & able to work together. #BHEbookstudy
@emilyestes29 A2: my parents taught me to be responsible through chores. I thrived with having little jobs. I would love to implement a rotation of jobs in my classroom. Kids love to be helpful to their teacher! #BHEbookstudy
