Delhi Police Identifies 100+ Social Media Accounts Over Fake Posts Amid CJP Protests: Addl CP Sanjay Bhatia

I interviewed Sanjay Bhatia, Additional Commissioner of Police, IFSO, Delhi Police.

- Delhi Police has identified more than 100 social media accounts and written to X regarding posts flagged for misinformation and other problematic content.

- Hundreds of posts across social media platforms have reportedly been taken down following requests to the platforms.

- Police found that some posts allegedly contained rumours, false information and content intended to disturb public peace and order.

- In one case, the IP address associated with a social media account was found to be located in Pakistan

- Multiple cases have been registered, and investigations are underway.

- No arrests have been made so far. Police are collecting evidence and tracing the people behind the accounts.

- Bhatia said some posts appeared designed to unnecessarily provoke emotions and create disturbances by circulating false or synthetically created information.

Govt sources on UPI MDR: The allegation that MDR has been introduced under any external influence is patently false and misleading. NPCI is constantly promoting RuPay debit cards. The use of RuPay debit cards has been kept free from MDR. RuPay cards will have an edge over other cards.
