It was great to be part of last night’s kickoff of Entrelibros at the Coral Gables Museum, South Florida’s only Spanish-language children’s book festival!
I encourage everyone to stop by and check them out from now through October 18.

It was a pleasure sitting down with my good friends Melissa Medina, CEO of eMerge, and TJ Villamil, President of Business Development, for a great conversation as part of their G20 Podcast Series!
Thank you, for the friendship, and the opportunity to share the Coral Gables story.
Please join us today, at 9 am for the City Commission Meeting and again at 3 pm for the Inspector General meeting.
Attend in person, watch on YouTube or on the City’s website. However you choose to join us, we’re always glad to have you be part of the conversation.
Congratulations to YoYo on the opening of their beautiful new studio on Miracle Mile!
This boutique yoga and Pilates studio brings together movement, community, and a Scandinavian-inspired café offering coffee and yogurt, all in a beautifully designed space.
Coral Gables is home to some truly amazing arts & cultural organizations, and Tuesday’s 4th Annual State of the Arts was a great opportunity to hear from the people who work so hard every day!
Thank you to Sanctuary of the Arts and Coral Gables Magazine for organizing the event.
It was a special night at the Art Cinema last night! I had the pleasure of recognizing the work Roig Academy is doing to support students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences, as well as kicking off the Miami premiere of the short film, “Made by Dyslexia.”
The October issue of Coral Gables Magazine includes a great article by J.P. Faber on the City’s continued expansion of parks and open spaces, an effort that has been very important to me personally and one I have worked on for more than a decade.
Today marks three years since the horrifying Hamas attack on Israelis, a day of unimaginable loss and pain. We remember the terrorist attack. We remember the unimaginable amount of lives lost. And we remember the families who will never be the same. We stand with Israel!
If current projections hold, the pension fund will be fully funded within 5 years, allowing $25M each year to be redirected toward other City needs.
In my opinion, some of the best learning comes from real-world examples, I’ve enjoyed bringing my experiences into the classroom.
It has been an absolute pleasure teaching at FIU’s @AdamSmithCenter this semester.
This past week, we took a deep look at the City’s pension fund and our strategy of making additional contributions to pay down the unfunded liability faster, an approach we’ve taken since 2015.
It was a pleasure meeting with Santa Tecla Mayor Henry Flores last week. Santa Tecla, El Salvador, is one of Coral Gables’ Sister Cities, and it is a relationship we truly value.
Thank you, Mayor Flores, we look forward to your next visit!
We had a productive Biscayne Bay Watershed Management Advisory Board meeting last week. Improving the water quality and health of Biscayne Bay remains a top priority for the City, County and State. As Vice Chair, it is a privilege to serve alongside this dedicated board!
Please join me today, October 2, for open door Fridays. I’ll be available today from 2-5 pm to discuss any issues, questions or concerns you may have. It is an honor and privilege, to serve you and I look forward to connecting.
It was a pleasure welcoming delegates from the Dominican Republic to Coral Gables this past week. We had a very engaging conversation about how our City operates, followed by a Q&A where we discussed everything from development and City finances to City services.
Coral Gables is well positioned to absorb the reduction in property tax’s because of years of fiscal discipline and long-term planning.
Miami-Dade needs to eliminate waste and focus taxpayer dollars on the services residents actually need. I encourage everyone to vote YES!
An increase in the homestead exemption is overdue.
Voters will have the opportunity to approve Amendment 3, which would increase the homestead exemption to $150k the first year & $250k the following year. Property values have risen, and the homestead exemption should also rise.
We had a productive site visit with the residents of Biltmore Drive to discuss traffic calming, sidewalks and pedestrian safety. Thank you to City Staff who are always willing to meet, see the concerns firsthand and discuss ways to improve our neighborhoods.
