Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in Serbia for his first visit since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

“We need to pull the Serbs away from Russia,” a senior Ukrainian official told AFP, describing Zelenskyy’s visit to Belgrade as “a slap in the face for the Russians.”

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, who has held office since 2017, has met Vladimir Putin in person at least twice since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The vessel was detained off Trelleborg in March at Ukraine’s request over suspected links to Russia’s shadow fleet.
