When you didn’t know better, you did the best you could. Period. You didn’t have the wisdom you have now. You didn’t have the lessons, the scars, the prayers, or the experience. So why you sittin’ here beatin’ yourself up like you were supposed to know then what you know now?
If you’re going through a period where you’re finding it hard to wait on God or struggling with your Faith, I want to recommend reading/praying Psalm 46 & Psalm 145. These two chapters have reminded that God is always near, will send help and will answer those who call upon Him.
There is a WOMAN somewhere right now who has:
No boyfriend
No helper
No sneaky links
Just by herself and fixing her life.
Wherever you are Sis, you will WIN.
Just putting this out there:
I feel it strong in my heart to write on depression today- as it affects young people (with special focus on young men in a hard difficult world). I have suffered from suicide ideas myself so I’m writing not just as a professional, I’m writing not just what I’ve read as a doctor, I’m writing as a friend and a fellow victim of this serious condition.
1 in 8 men suffer from depression.
1 in 4 women suffer from depression.
The vast majority of them do not understand it, don’t know how to describe it, are in huge denial, getting no help and are talking to nobody about it.
Pls kindly speak up.
Find someone who cares and talk.
Get a therapist if you can afford one.
Or speak to @MentallyAwareNG if you can’t afford a therapist. Tell them you are from me and they will give you help. I refer people to them many times.
You are a man, not a robot.
You are a woman, not a machine.
Pls don’t bottle up your pain.
Pls don’t lock up your trauma.
Pls don’t fight your stress alone.
More women are diagnosed with depression but more men actually kill themselves due to depression. This is actually really worrying.
More men die from suicide than women. As a matter of fact, men are 2-3 times more likely to end their lives by suicide. This is a well known fact. In any case, whether you consider suicide rates or depression rates, the data shows that many men and women are sadly victims. It happens to the best of us.
Don’t act strong if you are hurting inside. It’s not a mark of weakness to admit you need help- and to actively seek it. As I said earlier, I’ve personally felt suicidal myself so I have an idea how it feels. It’s a terrible dark place to be- and I will never wish it on anyone.
We all go through rough times;
I hope we all find the help and strength we need when the skies are dark, the clouds are heavy and everything you know seems to fall apart.
Again I beg you,
Pls kindly speak up.
Find someone who cares and talk.
Get a therapist if you can afford one.
Or speak to @MentallyAwareNG if you can’t afford a therapist.
Don’t give up. Don’t give in.
The tunnel may be long, it may be dark, it may really feel like forever, but I really pray you find your own light at the end of the tunnel somewhere soon.
Pass this on.

The afcon cup is not even fine self.
As Nigerians, we don’t want it.
If the cup was fine,
We would have won it.
Losing that game is our way of telling afcon that we will not be lifting a cup that is not fine.
We will not be part of that please.
