Dr. Dawson’s current research, funded by @HFGuggenheim, collects historical homicide rate data in Ontario (1792-2015) and Nova Scotia (1749-2015) with the goal of identifying the primary drivers of changes in the homicide rate over the long-term. (5/5)
Dr. Dawson also takes a comparative historical approach to the study of violence, analyzing the diverging homicide rate trajectories in Jamaica and Barbados and investigating the institutionalization of political violence in Jamaica. (4/5)
Dr. Nelson examines queer & trans-themed books for children & teens. The larger project is a critical analysis of narrative constructions, destructions & violences of gender/sexuality within which children & youth perform & comprehend meaningful selves. (7/7)
Introducing our @Violencersearch@csa_sociology November member profile:

She found that 1 of the answers is guilt-free sex and this becomes striking when we are also in a time and place where we hear of teen girls being bullied and victimized, even to the point of suicide, for their sexual behaviour, whether consensual or non-consensual. (6/7)
Dr. Scott is the author of 2 books, has held numerous grants and license agreements, written several articles & chapters, and publishes with her graduate students from @OTCriminology and @OT_FSSH. (6/6)
