PS5 can now make original PS2 discs feel almost like native games.

The PS5SX2 emulator has been updated so a jailbroken PS5 can automatically detect compatible PS2 DVDs and add a game tile directly to the console’s home screen, complete with the game’s cover art.

The latest version, PS5SX2 2.10, also adds a “Reload PS2 Disc” option if the disc isn’t detected correctly.

• Physical PS2 DVD support
• Automatic disc detection
• PS2 games appear on the PS5 home screen
• Game covers are displayed automatically
• Requires a jailbroken PS5
• Requires a legally obtained PS2 BIOS and additional homebrew components

The feature has only been tested on a limited number of PS5 consoles
The developer recommends ejecting discs before shutting down to avoid potential kernel panics

PS5 emulation is now running on Xbox Series X.

The KytyPS5 emulator has been ported to Xbox Series X as a UWP app through Developer Mode. Some PS5 games are already booting with sound and controller support.

The Xbox version uses a Direct3D 12 renderer and Mesa’s shader translation to make the PS5 software work on Xbox hardware.

Performance is still rough: Astro Bot is around 10 FPS on Xbox right now, so this is definitely not replacing a PS5 yet.
