The difficulty is (still) identifying a priori which patients are uniquely dependent on ATI vs an asleep technique.

There is a risk that awake tracheal intubation is becoming increasingly viewed as a 'high acuity, low occurrence' (HALO) event.

This is likely due to a self-reinforcing cycle of reduced awareness of indications and guidelines + reduced exposure and practice + VL.

Quite a problematic study actually. Not sure that you can brush away as a minor limitation the fact that no adjustment for primary qualification was even attempted.

Reducing the conclusions of the report to 'a refusal to listen to midwives' is appalling and misleading.

No acknowledgement of the fact midwives were largely the ones who CAUSED the harm with racist behavior, refusal to listen to women and refusal to escalate care.
