Since everyone keeps asking me, here are my thoughts. I think 2 things can be true:
1. I think a player like JJ who is incredibly raw, but incredibly talented, got dealt an unlucky situation with injuries:
- Unable to practice his whole rookie year, then hurt again his first year starting.
- In the games he did play, he was taking snaps behind some of the worst OL play in the league.
I think the injuries + OL play are what’s to blame for JJ’s lack of processing & inaccuracy throughout last season, more so than just saying “JJ is bad”. “Bad” players don’t have the highs we’ve seen him have.
I think many organizations would love to have the opportunity to let a player with his potential have the keys to their franchise for a couple full years and see how he develops.
2. I think an organization can also look at the rest of their team’s situation and make the following conclusion:
- They have a top 5 defensive unit in football and one of the greatest WRs to ever play in the middle of his prime.
- Despite subpar QB play and a god awful offensive line, they still had a winning record.
They are not in a position to let a young QB develop in real time; they need to try and win now. Both things can be true.
However, if Kyler is at the very least competent then JJ is no longer a Viking after this season. If that wasn’t obvious.
@vikesinsider I wish JJ was the starter i think every vikes fan should but I do think you’re missing a key fact that his former team is paying him 35.5 million to not be on there team anymore, says a lot about what his last team thinks of him, but we are here now and hope for the best with K1
@therealmcnair Love the butter color as well. One last question for the day for the contrast look, are you planning on doing just the collar or the placket too? I think some of the early photos a couple months ago had both. Personally I’d love to see the collar and placket.
@SeifertESPN Need to rethink how we build this club, seen this movie 2 many times. KOC is trying to keep his job, like winning games late last season to help build culture🤣 The Wilfs are too afraid to truly go for it happy with a playoff win. I don’t hate K1 at $1.5M, but 9 needs to play!!!
